Immersion Station

Immersion Station is an iPad app from Steve Roach. A nice, ambient sound blending program for creating custom sonance for background computing, writing or…napping! Using loops from Steve, one manipulates 5 different sound-spheres until you get a flow of sonance you dig…then you can export to Twitter, allowing others to replicate your mix based upon the position of the spheres.

Darren McClure & Derrick Hart – Daughters Planting In Fertile Waters + Mathieu Lamontagne – Un Trait

Presented as a split album release–> Darren McClure & Derrick Hart + Mathieu LamontagneThe online collaboration between Darren and Derrick began with a simple rhodes recording, which eventually became the track “Symmetry Violation”. Pleased with the result, they continued and another four tracks were created. Derrick’s recordings of acoustic instruments were combined with Darren’s electronics and field recordings, finding a balance between organic and synthetic themes and sounds.

Darren McClure lives in Japan and creates ambient soundworks that fold together electronics, drones and processed field recordings. Derrick Hart is an American musician and video artist who plays a kind of idiosyncratic experimental folk music.

This album will be featured on a split tape cassette release with Mathieu Lamontagne, limited to 30 copies worldwide.

Petroglyph Netlabel

I’ve been drafting off the Petroglyph Netlabel lately…& acquiring some new sounds. It’s a nice selection of ambient music – but you’ll have to pick & choose depending upon the type of noise you’re looking for (I find that, as of late, I’m a bit choosier as to what I want to flood my ears with. Here are 2 recent downloads:

01. Modern Sounds by Red Clouds: Red Clouds produces a sophisticated & often subtly gritty, ambient sonance that makes for great ear-bud listening (my preferred venue for ambient). I have several of James’s albums & have gotten to know him a little via the Relaxed Machinery Netlabel.
